Spanish resorts come in third on a recent survey about favourite places to visit in the world.

One of the favourite places for tourists to visit is France and it tops the list after a survey done by Skyscanner which is a flight search engine.

In second place comes the United States of America.China,Turkey and Italy are all very popular too.

Another survey by the same company showed that Spain is very popular with celebrities and politicians.Marbella,Granada,Granada,Ronda and Palma de Mallorca are a few of the favourite places chosen by them.

This year Michelle Obama chose to visit Marbella with one of her daughters,David Cameron is to visit Ronda in the near future and the deputy prime minister is also going to visit with his Spanish wife.

Last Thursday near Alfaz del Pi the residents of four houses between the El Romerol urbanisation and Forum Mare had to be evacuated from their homes because of a woodland fire.Also the Nostrum complex had to be eevacuated from their properties.

About 5000 square metres of pine forest was destroyed but fortunately no property was destroyed and no persons were injured.

Fire services took almost 2 hours to control the blaze.It is thought that the fire may have been started by a cigarette.

While the Benidorm fire crew was out fighting this blaze there were only three people left in the headquarters and one of those was a telephonist.This highlights two issues.One is the lack of firefighters and the other is the need to educate people about cigarettes.

The sooner people realise that there is an alternative to smoking cigarettes,where they still access their virtually harmless nicotine but have none of the other risks,the better.

Inlife electronic cigarettes are of high quality,there is no risk of fire and the risk of lung disease dissappears without tobacco.They are also more sociable in the sense that the smoker is no longer harming the health of others through passive smoking.Everyone is a winner.

Seven hectares of countryside was destroyed last week when fire broke out at the Tossal de Molla near Callosa dÉn Sarria.

Fire crews were called from as far afield as Denia and Benissa as the blaze spread towards the village.

Helicopters,water planes and special vehicles were all sent speeding to the area from the regional emergency headquarters,to help.

One family,living in an isolated spot had to be evacuated as a safety precaution.It was fortunate that nobody was injured.

It was at 12 midnight that the fire crews got the flames under control but the high temperatures made it impossible to extinguish the flames totally.

In fact crews had to work throughout Monday to gain total controlEmergency workers remained  in the area for many hours to make sure that the flames did not rekindle.

The evacuated family gained access to their home late on Monday afternoon.
