Spanish News-Plan 2000E

Saturday 27 February 2010 @ 8:12 pm

Plan 2000E was launched by the Spanish government in May 2009.It is a plan which was launched to stimulate the motor industry. At the beginning of february 2010 the scheme saw 268,793 sales. The government has been very pleased with the result and consequently they have extended the scheme into 2010.

The government has set aside 100 million euros to boost sales  and manufacturing in the car industry.A new car buyer will still receive 2000 euros ,500 from the Ministry ,1000 euros from the manufacturer and 500 euros from the CCAA towards the purchase. This of course is for a brand new vehicle.

The second hand market is not so pleased with the scheme as they sell many cars at a premium price in Spain. This applies particularly to the luxury end of the market. It is often cheaper to buy a second hand car in the UK,Germany or Belgium and transport it to dspain rather than buy one here.

One result of this new initiative is that over 250,000 old cars have now been scrapped and will never get into the second hand car market. So if you have a car which is worth less than 2000 euros ,which you want to get rid of and purchase a new one then you are still able to do so in 2010.

Elche Honesty

Saturday 27 February 2010 @ 7:53 pm

When an Elche resident went to the cash machine at his local hole in the wall he discovered a packet lodged there with 19,000 euros inside. What a moral dilemma to be in.Walk away with it or go to the police with it.Too many people would have just placed it in their pocket and walked away with it.

However this Elche gentleman did the correct and moral thing ad took the package to the National Police station and handed it in.He explained to the officers that he had gone to the branch of the Caja Mediterraneo( CAM) to carry out a transaction which requires a special access code.He had problems carrying out the transaction and so looked to the side of the machine and discovered the package. It was stuck in the deposit mailbox. It did have a note with it indicating which company was expecting to receive the money. The police returned the money to the company and one would hope that they rewarded this honest man.

We would all like to think that we would do exactly the same .If it had been our money then we would have wanted it to be returned to us and treating others as we would want to be treated is the yardstick to use in all moral dilemmas.

Javea Killing

Saturday 27 February 2010 @ 6:28 pm

In 2006 in Javea a German man was killed and now four people stand accused of the killing.Three of the accused are British and the fourth is the German ex-wife of the victim. The two British men have admitted to the killing but are pleading self defence. The wife of one of the accused is also accused of being involved.

The prosecutor is calling for sentences of between 10 and 20 years for the crimes. They are accused of murder and conspiracy to murder.it is being claimed that the german ex-wife asked the british men to go to her home to see if her ex-husband was living there illegally. When they discovered that he was living there it is alleged that they killed him on the orders of the ex-wife.She is accused of covering up the crime as well .

The first day of the trial took 6 hours for the court to hear the forensic evidence. The proceedings were slowed down by the need to have translators. The trial will take some time.

Orihuela Parks

Saturday 27 February 2010 @ 5:10 pm

Orihuela City Council has made upgrading its public parks a priority.Eighteen sites have been targeted for this developmental scheme. In certain areas such as  San Anton and the sagrado Carazon area where there was no provision for such amenities ,entirely new parks have been created for the community.

The Molins park has four new areas ,including adult and children´sgames areas,a walking area and rehabilitation sector with healthy living apparatus.

The new public park at Plaza Canonico Jesus Ortuno in the town of Molins is just one of the 18 sites where the improvement is in a neighbouring town. The park was opened  by a councillor from Orihuela town hall.Developments have included expansion of the present facilities ,modernisation and also incresed safety standards.

The introduction of equipment for adults to exercise and remain healthy is a wonderful idea and hopefully will be copied elsewhere.
