Benidorm|Terra Mitica For Rent

Saturday 31 July 2010 @ 1:55 pm

Terra Mitica is a theme park just outside Benidorm. It is a very good theme park as theme parks go but in the present economic climate it is extremely expensive for families to partake of its pleasures. The park has been struggling for a number of years and now it is to be rented.

Aqualandia which is another theme park nearby, which as its name suggests is a water park and a very successful one too.Now it is going to rent Terra Mitica for 1.8 million euros annually.

Terra Mitica was the brainchild of a former President of the Valencia Community. He had the idea for it in the 90´s.Since its inception it has never been as popular as Disney World in Paris and has had fewer visitors. It was facing bancruptcy. The interest on the loans alone is 1.8 million euros annually  and Aqualandia has signed a lease for 10 years. There is also an option in the deal to eventually buy the theme park.

Redovan|Town Hall Corruption Allegations

Friday 30 July 2010 @ 8:21 pm

Guardia Civil officers have searched the town hall at Redovan after allegations that certain previously elected officials had been responsible for manipulating the water contract for the town.

The previous Mayor it seems has been questioned over the alleged manipulation of a document which awarded the contract to supply fresh water to the town.

It is the present socialist mayor who has filed the complaint with the Guardia Civil. Then the judicial police has become involved to see if a crime has been committed. It has been stressed that this has nothing to do with another alleged corruption case in Orihuela.

In Los Alcazares there are other allegations of fraud, money laundering and bribery within the Town Hall and a municipal architect was arrested and imprisoned for misappropriation of public funds amounting to 4 million euros. He was not the only one to be imprisoned. The former Mayor and Town Clerk have been released on bail in this case.

Andalucia|Death of Child

Friday 30 July 2010 @ 7:29 pm

Reporting restrictions have been placed on the death of a 5 year old boy in Andalucia.

A German woman could face charges of negligent homicide after her son was discovered dead last week. The child died from heatstroke and dehydration. This caused multiple organ failure and death.

The woman was on holiday with her son and they were seen fishing fishing at a reservoir prior to the incident.

The mother reported her son missing and was herself in a disorientated and bruised state when she did this. She has been released with the charges still outstanding.

The body of the boy was found next to two rucksacks and an empty bottle of water. The rucksacks were adult and child sized.

Could this be a tragic accident or is it possible that it was negligence on the part of the mother.
